Day 5 GAETI

Today is the last day of GAETI. We have been working since 8 am this morning trying to get these final projects done. My partners are absolutely awesome! Today's presenter was okay. She presented on Mindset. This is more of a psychological point of view to teaching students. We finally finished our art project and it turned out ok. Thank you Bracey for choosing me!!!

In art we continued to work on the project but it is still not complete. Lastly, Mr. Tremain Johnson and Mrs. Brittany Morrow-Green provided a lecture on vocabulary  instruction. Day 3 GAETI 2018

Today was a very busy day! We started with a discussion and demonstration on poster design using MS Publisher. This feature is awesome because I can design poster boards and banners using this product. After that we had a lecture on tools and strategies for critically evaluating fake news. This is critical because I can teach my students how to spot valid sources for research. After lunch we had a fun lecture on Ancestry.com. The presenter provided vital information on how to start a family tree and she presented tools on how to locate our ancestors. In art, we worked on our projects. When  I was a kindergarten student I never colored in the lines and today is very evident of that skill!!! Lastly, Dr. Lee presented and demonstrated more Web design basic skills. This is a very tedious process but very interesting. All in all today was a busy productive day!!!

Day 2 GAETI 2018

Today we had a wonderful time with Dr. Lee  during his presentation on  Adobe Sparks. This was by far the easiest way to make a webpage, video, or graphic design. We had two presenters from the library to talk to us about presentations and 3d printing. Both presenters were awesome. As for art, we continued our projects and did some painting. It was very interesting and I cannot wait to see the final outcome. Lastly, we discussed web design with Dr. Lee. All in all today was a good day!!!!

Day 1 of  GAETI 2018

Today was a very wonderful day at GAETI. It was awesome seeing some familiar faces. The first presenters, Mr. and Mrs. Funchess,  started their presentation with a trumpet solo. They discussed the value of music in the classroom. Also, they discussed Behavioral Intervention Plans. Next, we started our artwork with clay. Although I struggle with creativity, I am looking forward to seeing the final product. Lastly, Mr. Reggie Ware discussed social contracts and classroom management techniques. He was very entertaining and knowledgeable about the topic. All in all today was a great day at GAETI!!

Final Day #22

Today is the last day of GAETI. We were giving more resources that can be used to teach. One of those resources was Jing. This can be use to make videos or take pictures of something online. Also, we got information on how to make QR codes. These QR codes can be used to give out our demographic information and such. The next thing we did was make a business plan for a potential business. My group decided to make a plan for ACT and SAT prep. Lastly, we made a logo for our business. After working on these things, I have more thoughts about actually starting a business and creating a logo as well.

Thank you GAETI for this opportunity. I have learned so much and I plan to share my knowledge with whomever wants it!

Fall Follow-up September 24, 2016: Today we started off by telling how we implemented the things we learned this summer. I had a refresher course of the resources and tools we learned. After that Dr. Bracey lectured about grant writing and she allowed some time for us to work in groups on writing grants. She provided feedback about our presentations and how to make them stand out in the event we actually write the grant. At the end of this session, Dr. Morris showcased an interactive activity that can be utilized in the classroom dealing with Google Maps and other websites. This tool can be used in history or science class to teach a concept as well as keep the students engaged in learning.
